I love it when the taxi pulls up to the house and I see it for the first time after being away, this time
we had been away since August so the house had been left for 9 months, can't believe its been so long. Everything looked fine, the garden a little overgrown but really pretty. May is such a lovely month for the garden, with geraniums Iris and aguilegia abundant. the sun was shining and our arrival was altogether very pleasant.

Mum and dad have traveled with us to see the house again and meet up with friends they have made in the village, I am rather proud of them as mums a young 82 and dad a young 87, Age is just a number and life is there for the living - what a great outlook on life.
The house was just as we left it, it's amazing how it's so clean and there's hardly any dust, so half an hour dust sheets removed and Colin vacuumed the house while I wiped round and dusted, made the beds opened the curtains and windows and we were in and settled.
Dad and mum after being cooped up for our 6 hour journey were busy in the garden. Dad set too to clear the path and patio of any weeds and then we were ready to get the patio furniture out. Mum armed with dust pan and brush swept out the outside toilet probably the dustiest place on the property as it is rather open to the elements. One day we will have an inside one plumbed in but all in good time.

Before we had travelled out I had been in touch by facebook - (marvelous communication tool :) with Gabriella my next door neighbours granddaughter asking if her mum and dad (Diana and Mincho) new about a chimney sweep and car hire. They had kindly organised a chimney sweep to come and clean both chimneys and flew, and also lent their old car so we could take mum and dad round locally, I am so grateful for the kindness shown by my wonderful Bulgarian friends.
The sweep arrived on his bike with his tools. No scaffolding and health and safety for these chimney sweeps, borrowed a ladder from next door which was perched at the top of the steps, a wire brush with a weight on and a rope in hand and he was up and cleaning the chimneys, getting down was via the tree

That night we were lovely and warm, Dora my friend says our wood-burner should be in a museum, ha ha she is right but I just love it. One day we will get a new one. We use it so little only if we visit in May or October when the temperature drops at night,
After a walk down to Veliko's or Nazdrave as it's called (local and very friendly pub) and a couple of beers we all slept well, it had been a long day, traveling across Bulgaria, Dad said he had had the best night sleep for years, not sure if it was the Bulgarian air, beer or the exhaustion of such a long day.
