Tutrakan    A picturesque stretch of the Danube, with traditional fishing boats and beautiful landscapes. Fishing here is an age old industry that can be traced back to the Stone Age
We headed down to the Lodka for a meal and social evening with friends, Molly and I took the opportunity to walk along the Danube and take in the views.. I love to see the traditional boats and watch the fishermen/women  go about their working day.  A storm was brewing and heading towards us from Romania  the skies moody and dark and the river still before the winds came and stirred the waters. The photos are taken on my phone and I am more than happy with the results, look closely and I managed to capture a stork flying over the boats - not bad with a mobile phone.
A pleasant walk before our meal and we just made it back as the rain came.

An ancient town founded by the Romans then known as Transmarisca. 

At the end of the 7th century it became known as Tutrakan, today it has a beautiful fishing village, a secret town of sunsets and beauty.

I love this town, a hidden jewel, I have spent many a happy hour walking beside the Danube along the beaches and through the Parks, and many a happy time with friends in the local restaurants and visits to concerts and annual occasions 

A unique fishing museum Museum of Danube fishing in Tutrakan traces the history of the river and its people, The fishing village of Tutrakan has been supporting its fishermen since time immemorial. The river and marshes are a perfect fishing for anglers and a fishing spot just waiting to be discovered.
